AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM EXCURSION // Years 7,8 and Senior Studies of Religion studnents headed off for
a tour of Ancient Egypt. We arrived a little after 10am at the Australian Museum in Sydney and after lining up with the huge crowds that were there, we entered the 'Ramses' Exhibition. There were great audio-visual displays as well as so many artefacts that were more than 3,000 years old!!
The exhibition highlighted the amazing technology of the ancient world as well as the belief systems of the Pharaohs.
Ramses lived to 90 years of age and helped to bring Egypt to the height of power in the ancient world.
After the exhibition we stopped off at the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park to reflect on the many brave men and women who have served in our armed forces since WW1. #heritagecollegesydney #secondaryschool #kempscreek

INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY // As their first task in Preliminary Industrial technology timber, students have applied measuring skills and basic tool technology to create a tea candle holder.
This job is deceptively simple, but full of potential difficulties. The use of softwood pine and hardwood jarrah inset make a nice combination. #heritagecollegesydney #secondaryschool #kempscreek

TRADE SHOW - GEOGRAPHY // Year 9 students were giv

TRADE SHOW - GEOGRAPHY // Year 9 students were given the task to work as a member of an architectural team, competing against
other companies, and win the design contract to build a state-of-the-art high rise apartment block in a suburb in Sydney. They had to present their proposed design to a panel of ‘professional architects’, were to award the contract. The design needed to meet the needs of the local demographics. The apartments had to be a leading representation of sustainability in Australia.
The presentation had to include an advertising
brochure, an informative letter to the community, a

GRANDPARENTS DAY (Performances) // Grandparents Day was a delightful celebration where over 120 grandparents and friends enjoyed morning tea hosted by our Year 8 students. The school was filled with joy as grandparents visited primary classrooms, creating lasting
memories with the younger generation. The day included fun games and musical performances by various classes.
Special awards were given to honour our grandparents,

WRITING COMPETITION // In June, Year 3 entered The

WRITING COMPETITION // In June, Year 3 entered The School Magazine writing competition.
The students were given a story start which they had to continue,
using no more than 250 words. There were also 3 words which
they needed to include.
The judges selected one winner and four honourable mentions
from the hundreds of entries they received.
A huge congratulations to these students who received honourable mention and are now published
authors.

ELEVATE EDUCATION // Last week our Year 10&11 students completed the Elevate Education Workshop.
Elevate's high impact seminars & workshops help students improve their study
techniques, increase motivation, build confidence, and lift exam performance.
Elevate’s study skills seminars are designed to achieve behavioural change
amongst students. It isn’t enough that students simply understand what they need
to do in their study. The challenge in any study skills program is getting students to
use and apply the skills they learn. Elevate gets students using the skills from its
