PAL vs HCS SENIOR BOYS PCYC CABRAMATTA/ FAIRFIELD

PAL vs HCS SENIOR BOYS PCYC CABRAMATTA/ FAIRFIELD // The senior boys’ teams from PAL and HCS faced off at PCYC Cabramatta/Fairfield in two exciting games last Wednesday. In the first match, HCS lost a close one to PAL, 25-23. Despite the narrow defeat, the team gave a strong effort.
HCS bounced back in the second game, winning 25-12 with a solid all-around performance. The split results set the stage for an even more competitive rematch in the future, God willing.
Thank you to our senior students for representing our College showing good sportsmanship and camaraderie and a big thank you to Mrs. Sharman for making this opportunity possible for our senior students!

MATHS // In maths, Year 4 students have learning a

MATHS // In maths, Year 4 students have learning about symmetry. Using their creativity and problem-solving skills, they learned how to draw one half of an image and then use a mirror to reflect it, completing their designs in a fun and interactive way.

TECHNOLOGY MANDATORY // This term and last, design

TECHNOLOGY MANDATORY // This term and last, designing our bags was an enjoyable topic. While focusing on the design process, we learnt how to hand stitch and use a sewing machine.
The whole process of designing our bags was really fun. Although it took us a long time to complete them, it was fun to learn how to sew.
We followed the steps in our books to create our bags by first cutting out the fabric and stitching it together. We then added the straps to our bags, making it look really good.
After that, we could paint our designs on the front of our bags.
Overall this was a really fun topic to do. It was enjoyable to see everyone’s creations. (Year 8 student)

In this unit we learnt to make bags, we practiced different types of stiches so we can choose the correct stich for the right place. My favourite part of making the bag was the decoration, Mrs G let us use lots of decoration materials which included fabric paint, material, sharpies and more. We learned how to thread the sewing machine and how to use it properly. We changed the settings on the sewing machine to zigzag and straight stitch. Overall, I have really enjoyed this sewing unit. (Year 8 Student)

FAIRY BREAD DAY (2) // Kindergarten and Year 1 celebrated Fairy Bread Day – an occasion dedicated to delighting in the simple joys of life and sprinkling kindness all around. The children had a wonderful time making and enjoying real fairy bread, a classic treat made with butter, sprinkles, and bread. They also crafted pretend fairy bread using paper plates and colourful confetti.. It was a reminder that even small gestures, like a sprinkle of kindness, can brighten someone’s day.

VISUAL ARTS // Pete Cromer is an Australian artist who is known for hisbold, colourful designs inspired by Australian wildlife. We recreated a Pete Cromer bird painting and added our own special touches to make them our own. We love the bright pops of colour in these art works.

Comments from Year 6 boys
- We played 4 games. We lost 2 games, drew one and wonone game. The other teams were very good team with some rep players. SO scored a great try, he ‘ankled them’.
- Our team did really well, with some great passing and communication. Well done to Mr Mansfield for his great coaching.
- It was a fantastic day, we enjoyed it and had so much fun.

Comments from Yr3.4 &6 girls

- J was a good team player, she scored 3 tries. The other team were all tall and very fast, I think they were all in Year 6. We won one game, it was very a very challenging day!
- It was a fun day. J played really well, she scored a few times.
- We played 4 games, we lost the first game 11-0, in the second game we upped our defence and although we lost, we played a lot better. We won one game, it was a good day, but we didn’t make the finals.
- I found the OzTag day really fun. We were in the seniors teams, the refs were really strict. The games were played on a full size field and went for 20 minutes. The girls played super well!

CYBER SAFETY // Secondary students attended the Th

CYBER SAFETY // Secondary students attended the ThinkUKnow program, which was developed by the Australian Federal Police to prevent online child sexual exploitation. The presentation was delivered by a representative from the Police Force. The program is run to help students at all levels build critical thinking skills and recognise unsafe situations online. Issues such as inappropriate contact, online grooming, image sharing, and sextortion were covered.
The aim of the ThinkUKnow program is the reduce the incidence of online child sexual exploitation through education, and to encourage help seeking behaviours so no victim feels they are alone. The ThinkUKnow website has information and advice for parents and carers, including resources to learn more about how to help children in your care.

COMMEMORATIONS // In Kindergarten, we’ve been learning about important commemorations in Australia’s history. We explored Anzac Day and Remembrance Day, understanding how these days help us remember and honour those who served. We also learned about National Sorry Day, a special day to acknowledge and show respect for Indigenous Australians and their history. These commemorations teach us about remembering, respecting, and caring for one another.
